DC stands for the District of Columbia, which is a federal district. It is not located in any US state. It is a special jurisdiction under the exclusive control of the United States Congress. The district was formed from land ceded by both the states of <a href="https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/Maryland">Maryland</a> and <a href="https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/Virginia">Virginia</a>. However, the portion provided by Virginia was later returned.
